Experience
With over a decade of experience in marketing and event management, I have had the privilege of working with some of Indianapolis' most dynamic venues, small businesses, and organizations helping to elevate the city’s economic impact in the areas of art, culture, hospitality, and entertainment. I am passionate about creating memorable event experiences, eye-catching branding, and strategic campaigns to achieve outstanding results.
Forty5
THE VOGUE THEATRE | ROCK THE RUINS | I MADE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL FESTIVAL
In my most recent role as the Director of Marketing at Forty5, I managed a marketing team to build creative and engaging multi-channel campaigns using organic and paid social media, radio advertising, digital media buys, email marketing, press and earned media, influencers, and strategic community partnerships to drive attendance to 200+ events annually across multiple venues, including The Vogue Theatre and Rock the Ruins. My efforts increased social media engagement, established a thriving community partner program, and achieved significant milestones such as growing @thevogueindy's Instagram following by 15% and maintaining an impressive 48% email open rate among 70,000+ subscribers. I played a pivotal role in launching the inaugural I Made Rock ‘N’ Roll Festival in collaboration with GANGGANG, and revamped our marketing processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
Metazoa Brewing Company
In my three years at Metazoa Brewing Company, I managed all aspects of taproom events, exceeded revenue goals through creative promotions and strategic partnerships, and grew the company’s branding efforts within the community. Some of my proudest accomplishments while at Metazoa Brewing Company included growing @metazoabrewing’s Instagram following by 600%, organizing major events like the Indy Pet Parade and annual Fourth of July Party, and spearheading an Indiegogo campaign that raised over $30,000 for a new dog park.
Heartland Film
At Heartland Film, I coordinated media relations, created engaging content for email and social media campaigns, wrote press releases, coordinated media buys, and managed editorial content for the 170+ page Festival guidebook. Outside of traditional marketing duties, I managed talent, led Q&As, and introduced films during the Heartland Film Festival and other year-round events.

Personal Projects
Prior to starting Sarah Silcox Studio, I worked to prioritize finding ways to stay creative outside of full-time employment through my monthly email newsletter called Cautiously Optimistic, travel photography, and graphic design. Learn more about each project below:
Cautiously Optimistic
Established in 2019, Cautiously Optimistic is an introspective email newsletter that combines personal reflections with thoughtful recommendations to inspire intentional living. Each issue explores themes of balance, personal growth, and the beauty of embracing life’s uncertainties alongside a mix of curated content including book and podcast recommendations, local culture and travel tips, and favorite recipes. Delivered in a warm, conversational tone, the newsletter offers a community-centric space where readers are invited to embark on a journey of self-discovery, connection, and the little things that make life worth living.
Travel Photography
Any time I can, I love to travel to new cities — mostly as an excuse to eat delicious food, explore cool neighborhoods, and shoot awesome photos. While I live full-time in Indianapolis, I consider San Diego and Chicago to be second homes and have a special place in my heart for many cities in Europe including Paris, London, Rome, and Munich.
Graphic Design
A self-taught graphic designer, I mostly use my design and layout skills for miscellaneous work projects in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Canva, but I love to work on fun graphic design projects for family, friends, and myself when I can!
